Sid Burger Minis is the brainchild of Sid Kim, one of the co-owners of Vatos, one of the most popular Mexican – Korean restaurants in Seoul. He is also the creator of the very delicious (and massive) Sid Burger! Anyway, he has ventured out to start his own enterprise, Sid Burger Minis. After three months of waiting for the dust to settle, I made my way there and needless to say, was not disappointed.
How to get there: The easiest way to get to Sid Burger Minis is to take the subway to City Hall (Line 1/2) and depart from Exit 10. After departure, walk straight for about 50 meters until you see the Paris Baguette on your right. You will see a sign for Seosomun-ro-11gil. Make a right at that sign and Paris Baguette. Walk for about 25 meters if that, and Sid Burger Minis will be on your left in the Over The Dish food court.
Service and Atmosphere: Sid Burger Minis is located in the “Over The Dish” food court, which shares its space with about 8 -10 other restaurants. The food court is spacious which is great if you are bringing a large party. You shouldn’t have much trouble finding a table. Service was great. I put my order in and my food was ready in about 10 minutes. Like many food courts, this is a self-serve environment, including water. The self-serve water had the smallest cups on the planet. So be a boss and bring a giant ass cup if you require a lot of water during your meal.
Food and Drink: Today we ordered a large side of Chilli Cheese Fries, a Bacon Guacamole with Cheese burger and two Cokes. It was a big lunch.
Chilli Cheese Fries (11,000KRW): The Chilli Cheese Fries were probably some of the best I have ever had in Seoul. There was a generous portion of chilli on the fries and it had the perfect amount of kick as well. The pepperjack and cheddar cheese mixed well with the chilli. The diced onions on top were cool and fresh. The portion was very sizeable. I ended up taking most of the fries home; thus it can easily be shared.
The Bacon Guacamole Burger (12,000KRW): The Bacon Guacamole Burger was really tasty. First, the patty was cooked to absolute perfection. The centre of the patty was that perfect pink and dripping with juices. The guacamole were served on top of the patty with bacon and cheese. There as a very generous portion of guacamole and was cool and fresh. The combination of it all was a scrumptious experience. My wife, who is a huge guacamole junkie, said it was one of the best burgers she has ever had and is contemplating divorce from me in order to marry said burger. Did I mention you get an order of seasoned fries? You do and they’re great!
The Takeaway Order: So, being the great husband/father that I am, I decided to share Sid Burger Minis with the family. I didn’t get any pictures, so you’ll have to take my word for it. First, as noted above, the Guacamole Burger was probably one of the best burgers my wife has had in quite sometime. It surprisingly held up over the long ride home (about an hour). Logan had the American Classic with Cheese Sliders (8,500KRW). He seemed to enjoy them as much as a two-year-old can. They were a little big for him, but for a regular kid, this would be a perfect meal. Keep this in mind when bringing the kiddos; you can get the burgers as sliders (hence the “minis” in the name).
Value: Lunch was 27,000KRW with the drinks. Dinner was 21,000KRW without drinks. Overall, it was a 47,000KRW day for lunch and dinner. Not bad considering the quality of food and the quickness it was served. Sid Burger Minis is one of the rare places in the City Hall area that serves us some decent Western food, so if you are in the neighbourhood, give it a try!
Who Should Visit Sid Burger Minis: Looking for a place that serves great burgers in an open environment? This could be your spot.
Who Should Avoid Sid Burger Minis: If you don’t like burgers. You are out of luck my friend.
